Research questions and brochure
Introduction:
In this unit we will be working on creating broad and narrow research questions, following through with the research, making a works cited (bibliography) sheet on Noodletools and creating a brochure using publisher. The heart of research is asking a good question that will lead to new discoveries and a deep understanding of a research topic. A broad question is open ended and can lead the researcher to create one to multiple paragraphs about their discoveries. A narrow question can be answered in a few words. Both are necessary for the creation of a great research paper.
Task:
Process:
1. Discuss broad and narrow research questions
2. Create 3 broad research questions and make them narrow
3. Create 3 narrow research questions and make them broad
4. Pull keywords from the questions and think of synonyms
5. Use keywords and questions to begin a research project using online databases, websites, books, and encyclopedias
6. Keep bibliography and research notes on Noodletools
7. Create a brochure using publisher about the research topic
8. Choose one topic and create a physical artifact that shows understanding of the topic
Conclusion:
Asking the right questions can make a research paper interesting, creative and original. Asking the wrong questions can make it dull and difficult to finish. Understanding how research questions and keywords work to help the researcher find information is essential in the actual process of research.
